School Farm
Forest Edge School is fortunate to partnered with New Forest School on the mainland which has a school farm. Alongside poly-tunnels and greenhouses it also features a small frog pond, a range of raised beds and is home to a growing menagerie of animals. From rabbits, guinea pigs and tortoises to pigs, hens and goats, OEA Education students access the farm on regular day visits so students can enjoy learning to care for all the animals as well as spending time developing and maintaining the infrastructure of the farm. Outdoor Learning Centre
New Forest Care Education has created an Outdoor Learning Centre which provides access to a number of outdoor learning possibilities. It has the following facilities:
- Indoor Climbing Wall
- Indoor Archery Range
- Forest School Area
- Mountain Bike Tracks
- Environmental Pond
- Poly Tunnels and outdoor raised beds
Alongside a small number of animals such as sheep/lambs, pigs/piglets depending on the season/time of year.
Forest Edge School students will have the opportunity to complete outdoor education lessons as part of their timetable on the Isle of Wight, but will also be able to access the Outdoor learning Centre.
Forest Edge School has staff qualified to undertake the following activities:
- Mountain Biking
- Forest School
- Beach School
- Paddle Boarding
- Sailing
These qualified staff are able to make extensive use of UKSA located 5 miles from the school.
Construction Hub
Forest Edge School has access to New Forest Care Education construction hub based at our Totton College.
This enables students to access taster sessions and project days. This enables students to access a dedicated learning environment geared to the construction qualification it features areas for:
- Carpentry
- Painting & Decorating
- Plumbing
- Bricklaying
As well as PC access, a small kitchen & social area and large project space.
