GCSE Food Nutrition & Preparation

The GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition qualification equips students with an array of culinary techniques, as well as knowledge of nutrition, food traditions and kitchen safety. This is an exciting and creative course which will inspire and motivate students, opening their eyes to a world of career opportunities and giving them the confidence to cook with ingredients from across the globe.

The qualification sets out the knowledge, understanding and skills required to cook and apply the principles of food science, nutrition and healthy eating. The students will take part in preparation and activities and must be able to make the connections between theory and practice to apply their understanding of food and nutrition to practical preparation.

Course Content

The GCSE course cover 5 main areas of study. These are as follows:

Paper 1 Food Preparation & Nutrition

Students to study and reflect on YR 10`S Topics

This will be concluded in the following:

Written Exam: 1 Hour 45 minutes

100 marks

50% of the GCSE

Questions will be:

Multiple Choice (20 Marks)

Five questions each with a number of sub questions (80 marks)

Task 1 & 2 are Non-Exam Assessment

Task 1: Food investigation (30 marks)
