OUTDOOR EDUCATION CURRICULUM
Intent
Outdoor education enables pupils to develop life and social skills and opportunities to try new things in a range of environments. The subject will provide knowledge of understanding of safety and environmental impact. Outdoor Education will help pupils to become more confident and skilled whether in general life or a specialism.
The pupils will gain a greater understand of the world and cultures around them. Outdoor education helps to build and train different skill sets like resilience and self-confidences, giving opportunities for leadership, independent learning and supporting other peers.
Pupils will be encouraged to progress at a pace that suits them working on trust, given the opportunities to build on prior learning, push their own limits and have the opportunity to make mistakes whilst having a positive fun experience.
Students will be encouraged to work within the social norms within general society. They will be working towards national governing body awards and AQA awards throughout there lessons.
